Pastor Nathaniel Wright

  Pastor Nathaniel Wright is a native of Ithaca, NY. Pastor Wright began his ministry at the age of fifteen. He was licensed to the ministry on December 8, 1996 at the Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Wright served on the ministerial staff at Calvary Baptist Church during which time he served as a youth minister. Pastor Wright was ordained on September 28, 2003. He filled the interim pastor role at Calvary in January 2004 and was installed as Pastor on December 11, 2005. Pastor Wright is a tremendous orator, who is able to connect the Bible to meet the needs of people. This God given ability is evident by the intergenerational congregation that he Pastors. Pastor Wright has been speaker at many prestigious events including:

  • Speaker at the 1999 American Baptist Churches New York State Black Caucus
  • Speaker for Cornell University’s Festival of Black Gospel 2008

Pastor Wright’s recognition of the link between the salvation Gospel that comes only through Jesus Christ and the social Gospel is apparent by his activity in many organizations in the Ithaca community:

  • the Human services coalition of Tompkins county
  • Ithaca College protestant board

Pastor Wright’s God-given gifts have been acknowledged by religious and community organizations alike and was recently honored as:

  • Recognized as the Young Person of the Year 2008
  • Recognized as the most influential person under 40 in Tompkins County

Pastor Wright is blessed to have a Spirit filled and gifted woman of God as a partner in ministry. He and Stephanie Wright were married on April 26, 2003. They are knitted together to further the liberating Gospel of Jesus Christ. They received a precious gift, their son, Malachi Nathaniel Wright, on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Pastor Wright believes that God is looking for those that would worship him and wants to be included in that number and that as Christians we must have an understanding of who God is so that we can better understand our identity.
